CCL comes out on top at the Champion Canterbury awards

Computer Concepts Limited (CCL) are proud winners of the Professional Service Medium/Large Enterprise award at last night’s Champion Canterbury Awards.

“We were genuinely surprised and very humbled by the win” said Darryl Swann, CCL founder and managing director. “I started this business 25 years ago; We have built a name for ourselves by being good at what we do and most importantly passionate about our customers”, “I can’t really believe that here we are being celebrated as champions.” “We now have over 200 staff, and I’m really proud to say that every one of them still share the same passion and pride that we built this place on originally”.

“We really hadn’t expected to win, we were excited just to be a finalist” added Andrew Allan. “The other finalists are real Christchurch success stories, delivering innovation and inspiring company cultures; to be alongside them is an amazing achievement for the CCL team”. “Taking out the award is one for our amazing team to take pride in, it’s their award, earned off the back of their determination and talent” “We’ll certainly be celebrating this with the team”.

The Champion Canterbury Business Awards recognise and celebrate the excellence, innovation, and success of businesses and charities in the Canterbury region and are seen as some of the New Zealand’s most prestigious business awards.

CCL CTO honoured on the worlds virtual stage

Jon Waite, the CTO of Computer Concepts Limited (CCL) has been awarded with Vmware’s coveted vExpert status just ahead of VMware’s annual VMworld conference.

The vExpert title is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated significant contributions to the VMware community and a willingness to share their expertise with others. The judges selected people who were particularly engaged with their community and who had developed a substantial personal platform of influence in those communities.

“I’m honoured to be recognised in this way” said Waite, adding “At CCL we have an amazing team, with some of the best technical minds I’ve ever worked with, so I am also quite humbled to be singled out like this”.

“Virtualisation is a bit of a passion for me, over the years it has revolutionised how modern datacentres operate, changing how we consume modern computing”. “I’m fortunate that CCL have invested ahead of the curve in virtualisation capability and Datacentre infrastructure, building a culture of delivering innovation and results. This has given me the freedom to ensure that we are always making use of the latest virtualisation technology and enhancements to deliver the best possible results for our customers”

Waite is an Enterprise Architect with over 23 years of IT experience across a range of geographies and industries. He is seen as an expert in a wide range of IT disciplines, and has built a reputation around delivering results and making the impossible happen for clients. His broad skills cover much more than just virtualisation including x86 compute, Unix compute, networking, storage and storage networks, DR/BCP, and backup/recovery. The vExpert announcement adds to his extensive list of VMware certifications including VMware Certified Professional, VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Datacenter Administration, VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Datacenter Design.

Jon has been involved in the New Zealand service provider market for the past 12 years and serves as a mentor and technical escalation point for CCL engineers.
